Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” network weekend host Michael Smerconish acknowledged that despite complaints from Americans decrying Russia alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, the United States doesn’t “have clean hands” when it comes to the same sort of behavior.

Smerconish referenced a guest that appeared on his program Saturday pointing out the United States’ has attempted to influence other countries’ elections on 61 different occasions since World War II.

“I happened to have a guest on my program Saturday, an academic name Dov Levin,” Smerconish said. “He’s from Carnegie-Mellon in Pittsburgh, who documented on 61 occasions in 80 different nations from the post-World War II era through 2000, we have been involved, not in computer hacking, but in Find Out More…

Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Steve King (R-IA) was asked by show co-host Alisyn Camerota if he was “comfortable” holding up funding for the federal government if it did not include money for the border wall.

King said that he was, but suggested taking it a step further by adding money earmarked for food stamps and Planned Parenthood to fund the wall.

Partial transcript as follows:

CAMEROTA: And it’s $1.6 billion. I mean, that’s what might be holding up, you know, the funding for the government. But are you comfortable, Congressman, with providing $1.6 billion of taxpayer money, not from Mexico, to build that wall?

KING: Absolutely yes, and more, and I’d throw another $5 billion on the pile and I would find a half of a billion dollars Find Out More…

Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Scott Taylor (R-VA) told show co-host Alisyn Camerota the media were overreacting to President Donald Trump’s attacks on them.

Taylor suggested a more policy-specific direction of media coverage instead of responding to the attacks. Taylor’s remarks came a day after Trump tweeted a video of himself pummeling a body with a CNN logo superimposed over WWE’s Vince McMahon’s face at Wrestlemania 23 in 2007.

“I think you guys are getting played man,” Taylor said. “I think every time he does this you guys overreact, and by you guys I mean the media in general, and you play right into his hands.”

Friday on CNN’s “New Day,” host Chris Cuomo and Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) went back and forth on whether or not there was the existence of evidence that President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia.

While Duffy maintained there was no evidence of collusion, Cuomo insisted Duffy offer proof there was no evidence of collusion.

CUOMO: You make a lot of points that deserve consideration there, congressman. First of all, I would hope you have the same perspective on so many members of your party who say there’s no evidence of collusion. because we both know, as attorneys, it is naive at best to suggest we could know. Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” host Chris Cuomo opined about President Donald Trump’s willingness to attack a “free press” in his public appearances.

Cuomo acknowledged he was within his right to do so, but said given it is the role of the media to hold him accountable, there was something wrong with him criticizing the press.

“There is a good chance the president of the United States is watching us right now,” Cuomo said. “He watches this show. He monitors the media. He criticizes it. All of that is within his right. But with power comes Find Out More…

Co-authors Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen appeared on Thursday’s broadcast to promote their new book, “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign.”

During that appearance, Parnes revealed that Robby Mook, the campaign manager for Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential bid, relied on analytics instead of the on-the-ground conditions during the campaign. That according to Parnes was why that campaign decided against polling in Michigan and Wisconsin, two losses by which the Clinton campaign was blindsided.

“There was some blame to go around among the top aides,” Parnes said. “Some people point to Robby Mook Find Out More…

Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, took aim at those in Congress and among the “Breitbart crowd” arguing former National Security Adviser Susan Rice used intelligence for political purposes, primarily against Donald Trump and his transition team.

However, Schiff said he would also be open to the possibility of Rice testifying before the House Intelligence Committee.

CUOMO: Joaquin Castro came out, Democrat, and said, from what he’s seen on your committee, he thinks people are going to go to jail.

Do you agree with that?

SCHIFF: You know, I’m not speculating about where we end up at the conclusion of our investigation. I think we’re still in the very early stages. I think our obligation is to follow Find Out More…

CNN’s Chris Cuomo cautioned “New Day” viewers Tuesday to beware what he called the “fake scandal being peddled by right-wing media” that is the report that former National Security Advisor Susan Rice was behind the unmasking of identities of members of the Trump transition team.

According to Cuomo, there is “no evidence of any wrongdoing.”

“So President Trump wants you to believe that he is the victim of a ‘crooked scheme.’ Those are his words. And here are our words: There is no evidence of any wrongdoing,” Cuomo said.

He continued, “And, in fact, if anything the [national security adviser] asking for identities was a reflection of exactly how much traffic there was involving Trump people Find Out More…
